Our Process, Step by Step
Step 1 | Contact
Every project starts with a conversation. We’ll talk through your space, goals, timeline, and budget so we can prepare a bid that reflects both the scope of work and the details that matter most. Helpful items to bring or share with our team, if available:
- Cabinet or house plans
- Coordinating selections like flooring, paint, cabinets, or backsplash
- Inspiration photos (we love Pinterest!)
Step 2 | Education and Selections
This is where the design takes shape. Our team will walk you through material options, design considerations, and functional details so you can make informed decisions.
Selections such as stone material, edge detail, backsplash style, sinks, appliances, cabinetry conditions, and structural needs all influence the final design, pricing, and timeline. Many blogs on our site explore these topics in more depth.
Step 3 | Scheduling, Paperwork, and Deposit
Once selections are finalized, we’ll provide a final work order for review and approval. Paperwork and a deposit are completed at this stage to reserve your place on the template & installation calendar. A few timing notes:
- Paperwork and deposit must be completed at least three weeks before templating
- We accept checks, cash, or credit cards (a 3.5% fee applies to card payments)
Step 4 | Template
Templating is a critical step where we take precise measurements using laser technology. These measurements guide fabrication, so timing matters.
- New cabinets must be fully installed before templating
- Existing countertops must be removed prior to templating
If demolition is needed, Evolution Design does not perform it directly, but we’re happy to help coordinate that step.
Step 5 | Digital Layout Approval
After templating, you’ll receive a digital layout created from a high-definition photo of your actual slab. This allows you to review and approve material orientation, seam placement, cutouts, and final design details.
Approval is required before fabrication begins.
Step 6 | Installation
Approximately two to three weeks after layout approval, our installation team will complete your project. You can expect respectful, detail-focused craftsmanship in your home. Every kitchen project includes:
- A stone cutting board
- A bottle of EvoOxy cleaner
- A care sheet for your new countertops
